Stefan Paas

Stefan Paas (1969) studied Theology at Theological University Apeldoorn and Utrecht University. He graduated in 1993, whereafter he worked at a high school, teaching religion and also as a staff worker for the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). In 1998 he completed his PhD in Old Testament Studies, focusing on creation traditions in ancient Israel. After his PhD he worked as a missionary consultant for a Dutch denomination. Also he published several books on missiology, while teaching as a guest lecturer at VU University and several other institutions. In 2007 he wrote an award winning study on political theology. From 2006 until 2010 he was Professor of Church Development at Christian University of Applied Sciences in Ede, the Netherlands. In 2009 he became Assistant Professor in Missiology at Theological University Kampen, and in 2010 he was appointed as J.H. Bavinck Professor of Church Planting and Church Renewal on behalf of the Center for Evangelical and Reformation Theology at VU University Amsterdam. Stefan Paas is involved in several national and international networks for church planting and mission in the West, and he is a consultant for a number of denominations in the Netherlands. He writes and lectures in the fields of missiology, apologetics, church development, and political theology.
