Hijme Stoffels

Hijme Stoffels is Professor of Sociology of Religion at the Faculty of Theology of the VU University Amsterdam. His main areas of interest are religious communities and movements. He published about Evangelicalism, Orthodox Protestantism, New Religious Movements and Immigrant Churches.  His current research concerns the role of religion in urban settings. He teaches the courses Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Religion, Dutch Protestantism after World War II, Building Religious Communities, and Empirical Research Skills.
