Virtual Religion

Central to this research project are the intersections and interactions between offline and online religion. The main research question in this project is: what happens to the everyday practice of religion when confronted and/or constituted by new media technologies and cultures?

The research group consists of both junior and senior researchers, and affiliated members including film makers. The junior researchers are predominantly students from VU University Amsterdam, who are involved in the research master or the media specialisation of the 1 year master Theology & Religious Studies.

The project is led by Johan Roeland
