Professional care and spirituality

The research project on professional care and spirituality starts from the premises that good professional care is fundamentally relational and not technical. Related to that is the perspective that good care is integrative by nature; the existential or spiritual dimension cannot be isolated from other dimensions of care. Our research focuses on the essentials of care, the integration of spirituality, and the definition of professionalism. Researchers, including PhD-candidates, in this project work on various theoretical and empirical issues:

Hanneke van der Korst: A gender perspective to prison chaplaincy.

Nico van der Leer: Meaningful care; meaning-focused approaches in elderly care.

Job Smit: Fundamental methodology for spiritual care.

Hennie Wattimena: Pastoral counseling in Indonesia.
